For this opportunity, we're working with a leading outsourced fund administration firm (similar in scale and sophistication to industry leaders in the space) to identify an experienced Fund Administration Director/Managing Director who can bring strategic leadership and operational excellence to their growing platform.

Role Overview:

As Director/Managing Director of Fund Administration, you'll provide strategic leadership for a portfolio of private equity funds, overseeing all aspects of fund accounting, investor reporting, and operational excellence. This is a hands-on leadership role where your deep technical expertise in fund structures combines with your ability to mentor teams and drive process improvements.

You'll lead a team of fund accountants and senior accountants, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of all fund administration services while building scalable processes that support the firm's growth trajectory.


Key Responsibilities:

Fund Operations Leadership

  • Oversee fund accounting operations for multiple private equity funds, including complex fund structures, co-investments, and continuation vehicles
  • Lead NAV calculations, capital calls, distributions, and waterfall calculations ensuring accuracy and adherence to Limited Partnership Agreements
  • Direct the preparation and review of financial statements, investor reports, and regulatory filings
  • Manage fund closings, commitment tracking, and investor onboarding processes

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fund accounting professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Establish clear performance standards and provide regular feedback to drive team development
  • Build bench strength through strategic hiring and succession planning
  • Create an environment where team members can thrive with flexible work arrangements

Process Excellence & Technology

  • Design and implement scalable processes that enhance efficiency without sacrificing accuracy
  • Champion technology adoption and automation initiatives to streamline operations
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls and quality assurance procedures
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to standardize best practices across the platform

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to private equity partners on fund administration matters
  • Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and other service providers
  • Present complex fund matters to investment committees and boards
  • Proactively identify and resolve client concerns before they escalate
  • Strategic Initiatives
  • Contribute to the firm's growth strategy by identifying new service opportunities
  • Lead special projects including system implementations and process reengineering
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices
  • Participate in business development activities as a subject matter expert


Qualifications:

Required Experience

  • 10+ years in fund administration, fund accounting, or audit with significant private equity exposure
  • 5+ years leading fund accounting teams in a senior capacity
  • Deep expertise in partnership accounting, including complex waterfall calculations
  • Proven track record managing multiple funds simultaneously
  • Experience with quarterly and annual fund closings

Technical Expertise

  • Expert knowledge of fund structures including master-feeders, parallel funds, and blocker entities
  • Proficiency with fund administration platforms (e.g., Investran, eFront, Allvue, Geneva)
  • Advanced Excel skills including complex financial modeling
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and partnership tax concepts
  • Experience with Limited Partnership Agreements and side letter provisions
  • CPA certification preferred
